Jewish Apple Cake

Peel and cut 5-6 apples into square 1/2 inch chunks. Sprinkle with 5 tablespoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and set aside.

In a large bowl measure:
3 cups flour
1 cup oil
1/4 cup orange juice
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder

Beat the above together until smooth (5-10 minutes). Pour half the batter into pan. Sprinkle with half the apples and then add remaining batter and apples. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours in a greased tube pan.
