1 28 oz. can of tomatoes (your choice); we use crushed tomato
2 cloves of garlic
2 Tbsp good olive oil
1 tsp sugar
1 to 1 1/2 Tbsp basil (or a handful of fresh, minced nicely)*
Salt and pepper to taste
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat the olive oil in a sauce pan over medium high heat. When hot, press the garlic into the hot oil and cook for about a minute, stirring to prevent burning. Take the pan off the heat and then add the tomato, basil, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer for medium-low heat for about five minutes. Serve how you will.
* I prefer fresh basil if I'm going to use the sauce for pasta. I prefer dried basil flakes for pizzas (this makes an absolutely outstanding pizza sauce).
That sounds so easy and delicious!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of tomato sauce, but I prefer this to any other I have ever had to taste. I like that it's not all super chunky, and it does have a nice flavor. I just don't like tomatoes :(
